Ned Kelly

We have been doing a lot of work on crimes and punishments.  Last weeks homework was to do a wanted poster on a known criminal.

Josh did Ned Kelly and we didn't know that he made and wore his own armour. I wanted to investigate the era of his criminal behaviour, how long he was a criminal, and when he died?

Do you know?

School Fundraiser

Huia Range School has a Fun Run/Walk planned for the 13 May and we have been given the responsibility of advertising this event.

This is the poster that I designed to go up in a shop in town to advertise our fun/run walk fundraiser.

Do you think you will be taking part in our fun run/walk?

Running Wild Art

We have finished reading Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo and are now using the novel as motivation for art.  We are learning to use simple step-by-step methods, from 'how-to-draw' books, to produce realistic wild animal images

Using earlier postings what wild animals do you think we have been drawing?

Present Tense To Past Tense

We are writing recounts at the moment that need past tense.  Today we used Devon's great beginning, which was accidentally written in present tense, and we changed it to past tense.

Swosh, splash.  The first competitors are off into the pool.  The timekeepers click their stop watches to see who breaks a record. Everyone in their house groups are cheering.

Would you be able to change it to past tense?

The Tiger poem

We have been reading Running Wild and Will keeps reciting this poem because he remembers a tiger and it keeps him strong.
Its is called Tiger,Tiger by William Blake

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

What do you think of this poem?
