Central Districts Federation Under 12 Football

Congratulations to Daniel, who this week has travelled to Sydney to play in a football tournament as a member of the Central Districts Federation Under 12 Football team.  We wish him well and know he will play as hard as he can.

Dairy of A Wimpy Kid Competition

We entered the Kiwi Kids News Diary of A Wimpy Kid competition last week.  Firstly we learned about the geometric shapes that are used to make a cartoon and  then practiced.  Lastly we published our creations and sent them off to the competition.  Chisora's (below) cartoon of himself doing archery won tickets.  Congratulations Chisora.

Tutira Mai Nga Iwi

Inspired by the Glen Osborne's rendition of Tutira Mai Nga Iwi, the school has been involved in practicing, performing and being videoed so we could put together our own version of this well known waiata.

Alec did a great job editing it.  What do you think?

Happy Mother's Day Mums!

Happy Mother's Day Mums!

The boys wrote great metaphor poems for you all on Thursday.  Hope you all received them (sorry the art didn't turn out quite as I had hoped!). Some of my more favourite lines were;

My Mum is an astronaut; she will go to the moon and back for me

My Mum is a lion; filled with courage
My Mum is a bowl of sugar; sweet
My Mum is a river; Coll and calming
My Mum iOS a crocodile; snapping at me when I forget my chores!
My Mum is a fairy; granting me my every wish
My Mum is a grenade; she is the bomb!
My Mum is a jewel; precious to me
My Mum is an angel; forgiving my wrong doings!

And there were many more great lines!

It is that time of the year again, when we start thinking about fund raising for the end of year camp and how we make lighting the fire easier.  Luckily both go hand in hand and we had a great day (between cyclones - Debbie & Cook) to visit Te Maunga farm and bag pine cones.  Now they are drying in the shed during the holidays before we advertise them early next term.

Getting some sun to help the drying process!

PB4L Dojo Event

Wow!  What an amazing day we had at the Dannevirke Domain for our end of term PB4L Dojo day.  The Year 8's were amazing leading each class around each of the events and the Year 7's got right into every event.  Great to see the boys being kids!

Which Day is it?

A problem for today

If it's not the day after Monday or the day before Monday, and it isn't Thursday tomorrow, and it wasn't Thursday yesterday, and the day after tomorrow isn't Saturday and the days before yesterday wasn't Saturday, what day is it?

Not many got this, can you?

Silhouette Soldiers

With ANZAC falling in the school holidays and we having been busy with other subjects we decided to spend the last day of term remember those soldiers who gave or risked their lives so our country had freedom.

We had a lot of fun producing the following pieces of art.  We were very persistent, especially when cutting out our silhouette soldiers.
